Developer Starry Studio announced that permanent servers are set to be launched in Once Human on March 13. This is good news considering this has long been requested by the community.
What usually happens in the game is that when a new season starts, they sign up for a scenario and then complete the seasonal experience. Eventually, that server closes. When this occurs, players can either sign up for a new scenario or go back to Eternaland.
In a post, the studio revealed that they've been getting feedback regarding this matter. Some players for example share that they're unable to experience all of the content in the scenario due to the limited duration. Then there are those who want to continue playing the same scenario instead of playing a new one or even returning to Eternaland. Finally, returning players said that they can't resume their progress because of the server closures.
Once this new feature goes live, it means that scenario servers won't close. Instead, when the scenario ends after its settlement phase, the server is going to be converted into a permanent server. During the conversion, which should take about two hours, the server won't be accessible. Once the conversion is complete though, players can choose to remain on the server. Other options remain like returning to Eternaland or signing up for a new scenario.
Rule on Inactive Characters
There are some rules though when it comes to this new feature and one of them is that inactive characters can't enter the permanent server. Once the server has been converted to permanent one, characters that haven't logged in to the scenario for an extended period is ging to be returned to Eternaland. From there, they can sign up for a new scenario.
The studio said that the reason for this restriction is that transferring all characters to the permanent server results in the server experiencing a significant load on the server. To ensure a smooth experience for active users, characters inactive for at least 30 days won't be transferred to the permanent server. The studio did say though that there is a plan to significantly ease this restriction as a way of accommodating returning players.
Once Human introduces players to an open-world and survival game where they get to explore an absorbing post-apocalyptic Earth overrun by an extraterrestrial entity known as Stardust. Combat is a core feature of the game as it offers exhilarating battles versus diverse enemies along with fights against powerful bosses from another realm. In addition to ensuring survival, the actions of the players in battle play a role in the welfare of other survivors.
