Gamera Interactive announced that the Sigil Update for Alaloth: Champions of The Four Kingdoms is now live. This latest update introduces major changes that reshapes how the game is played at its core. In particular, the focus was on revamping the game's key systems and reworking numbers, which rebalances the whole experience. The most significant change is the complete overhaul of the game's level system and the enemy scaling.
In a post, the studio revealed that when Alaloth: Champions of The Four Kingdoms first came out, the level cap was set to 4. It was later increased to 10. Then when version 1.0 was launched, the level cap was not at 20. The studio also shared that since the release, players have been sharing feedback about the game's difficulty curve. It was steep and punishing at the start and later flattened as the progression continued.
Tiered Leveling System
The studio went on to say that it was always a challenge to find the right balance. This is not only on the scale and depth of the game but also on how the experience varies based on the playstyle of each player. To address this issue, the studio implemented what can be described as a "tiered leveling system." This change results in a more balance, as well as rewarding, curve. It should allow for the game to be smoother in the early hours, becoming more consistent in the mid-game, and then increasingly challenging toward the end.
Enemy Scaling
The new update also redesigns enemy scaling from scratch. In the past, enemies would scale in predefined steps based on specific skill unlocks. However, their stat continued to be tied to a system that was built around a 10-level cap. The change allows for dynamic scaling to create more meaningful encounters throughout the entire journey and all the way to the final battle. It goes without saying that all saves remain fully compatible, but skills, traits, and proficiencies need to be reassigned.
