Ice Code Games announced that Nightmare Frontier is now available in Early Access on Steam. This innovative tactical extraction looter has players survive and fight for loot.
The Early Access version introduces significantly more content compared to the demo. There are four city districts with the possibility of unlimited raids deep into the Nightmare. There are also many more items to gather like the rarest and most powerful. Players can upgrade these items to their highest level using Nightmare essence. Early Access offers players the chance to dive into a storyline that unravels the nature of the catastrophe that destroyed the city.
Engulfed in a Nightmare
Nightmare Frontier takes place in the heart of 19th-century America. A mysterious anomaly has changed the course of the entire world and transformed the frontier of civilization into a borderland between reality and unknown horrors. The town has become engulfed in a Nightmare.
Meet the Dreadweavers
It's a place where beasts known as Dreadweavers prowl the streets as they hunt the few remaining survivors. These terrifying creatures are actually physical manifestations of humanity’s deepest fears. Arachnophobes for example face a six-revolver gunslinger spider, while those who fear fire need to prepare and confront the flames along with the terrifying creatures that spread them.
In the game, players take on the role of a ringleader fighting to endure and thrive amidst this pervasive horror. It's not just about safety but also a shot at fortune.
Risk-Reward Gameplay
Nightmare Frontier features tactical turn-based strategy and combines it with roguelite elements. It focuses on risk-reward gameplay that’s typical of extraction looters
During gameplay, players are constantly faced with tough decisions like whether to push deeper into the dangerous areas of the cities looking for better rewards or to accept what they’ve already gained. With each turn, the forces of the Nightmare grow stronger as each move brings increasing danger.
In a statement, CEO Mateusz Pilski shared that players can now start to uncover the America that they've crafted. He added that with the comments from the community, they can release into Early Access with being able to create something unique. He went on to say that the combination of extraction looter gameplay and tactical turn-based strategy with roguelite elements results in an innovative game.
