Wastelanders are in for a treat as the Ghoul Within update arrives to Fallout 76. That's because everyone has the chance to turn themselves into a Ghoul and experience a new way to play. Aside from the new gameplay mechanics, there are also Ghoul-exclusive Perk cards.
To start that Ghoul life, players need to pick up the questline titled "Leap of Faith." It should take them to a new section of the Savage Divide where they can meet characters who are more than willing to help in the transformation. Those able to complete the questline have their transformation completed and unlock new Ghoul-exclusive abilities.
Be Feral
When players become a Ghoul, what happens is that they no longer have to sate either hunger or thirst. Instead, they'll have that gnawing desire to return to their base nature and abandon whatever sanity they might have had. Once they turn into a Ghoul, they're going to have what's called the Feral meter. It drains over time and can only be filled back up after consuming Chems.
Depending on how full the meter is, the Feral status provides different bonuses and penalties.
All Glow
One of the good things about becoming a Ghoul is that there's less reason to fear radiation. They'll become immune to diseases and can't be mutated by nearby radiation. In fact, they'll find out that radiation makes them glow.
The new Glow system introduced in Fallout 76 increases the maximum health, while also healing damage, based on the amount of radiation accumulated. The Glow can be tracked by the green-striped pattern on the HP bar.
Get those Gherks
One of the immediate benefits of being a Ghoul is that players get access to a new suite of Perk cards. This is in addition to the normal human cards they can use. There are 28 Perks to choose from along with 2 new Legendary perks for Ghouls.
The new Perk cards can be obtained through Perk card packs or by players to choose their level-up Perk. By the way, Perk cards that revolve around Hunger, Thirst and the Chem Resistant perk, are going to be locked since Ghouls don’t need the benefits that those cards provide.
