New Challenge Mode Void Erosion Added to The First Descendant

The latest update for The First Descendant introduces the Void Erosion Purge: Challenge to the game. This should be interesting to players looking for a challenge.

In a post, the development team had shared that the Void Erosion Purge was designed to have a focus on firearm-based combat. However, the community has since shared concerns on this like it was being overly simplistic, among others. As a result it was redefined to be a farming-oriented content for core item acquisition. The combat flow was also redesigned to better harmonize firearms and skills.

The mode unlocks once players clear Void Erosion Purge: Normal Difficulty <Stage 30>. They can then access it through the Infiltration Operations Terminal or the Void Erosion Purge: Challenge icon on the World Map.

Void Erosion Purge: Challenge is composed of five stages. Players start at stage 1 with the rest of the stages being locked. Once the Erosion Purge starts, they'll have to defeat the Vulgus Legion to fill the target gauge. Once the gauge is full, the final Commander then appears. Players need to defeat the Commander to complete the Void Erosion Purge. Complete Erosion Purge within the target time unlocks the next stage.

Here are the different ways to determine the outcome:

• Erosion Purge Complete: Those who complete the mission within the target time of 12 minutes receive the mission completion rewards and unlock the next stage.

• Mission Complete: Those who complete the mission but exceed the target time of 12 minutes receive the mission completion rewards but the next stage won't be unlocked.

• Mission Failed: Those who fail to complete the mission and exceed all 15 minutes of playtime won't receive the mission completion rewards and the next stage won't be unlocked.

That said, for the rewards, only Rounds, MP and HP items drop from the Vulgus Legion that appear. Players won't be able to obtain other items, Descendant EXP, or Firearm Proficiency from defeating them. Meanwhile, Tier X Cores and Weapon Core Amplifiers are going to be available as one-time rewards the first time players complete the Erosion Purge mission.
