The Necromancer's Tale is a narrative-driven top-down RPG where players take on the role of a minor noble in the 18th Century. They're drawn into the Dark Necromantic Arts as they seek knowledge and revenge. It's a time when the world is at the cusp of rational thought and superstition. By that it means science and magic.
Story-rich Game
This story-rich game offers 400,000 words of narrative and lore with players being able to talk with at least 180 NPC characters, each one having their own portrait art. Players get to investigate, negotiate, coerce, and flatter if they want to progress their aims.
A play-through takes around 25 and 50 hours. It depends on how much side content and world exploration players engage to begin with. It also depends on whether they play the battles or use automatic combat resolution.
Trust System
The game has what's known as the Trust system. This means the choices of the players, even in conversation, matter a lot. For example, if the trust of the townfolk's drops too low, players are sure to realize that their choices are affected. It it drops even further down, they'll be tried in court and hanged, or worse, lynched by a frenzied mob.
It's important to know that the characters created by the players are done so in an interactive and fully voiced backstory. It's going to define their gender, early life, skills, and career. Narrative options during the main game are affected by these choices.
Combat System
The game features tactical turn-based combats between players, their allies, and their undead minions. They’ll be going against a range of enemies, natural and supernatural. Players can also harness a range of weapons, rituals, and battle spells, all to defeat their enemies.
