In case you didn't know, MapleStory is actually celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. That's really a big milestone especially for Nexon. It also means that there may be big changes coming to the game in 2025.
What's being planned for MapleStory then? That's what Chief Product Officer Hanbyeol Oh, also known as Inkwell, recently revealed in a post. He started by sharing that over the last year they've been listening to feedback from the players and making "improvements step by step" whenever they can. Indeed, there have been a lot of changes. For starters, there was the Crossover Event which was launched last month. Then there's also the Steam Community Market, which is now in beta service.
Right now, Inkwell revealed that they're working on issues that can help in improving the gameplay.
Boss Power Crystals
One of the issues the development team is looking into are related to Boss Power Crystals. In particular, they're reviewing the adjustments made and analyzing the data to offer a direction that won't affect the gameplay. A decision on this matter is expected by the summer update, which should be sometime in June.
Star Force System
Another feature being reviewed is the Star Force System, especially the changes and additional measures to be introduced in the game. The team said with the changes being made to this system, it has become even more important to think about the different ways in which equipment can be obtained. They'll also need to find supplementary methods that can assist in the ability transfer of destroyed Equipment Traces.
QoL Improvements
The team revealed that quality of life improvements are important especially when it comes to the ease and stability of basic gameplay. For the time being through, it looks like they'll be focusing on the currently planned features. The team did assure players that the wait won't be too long as improvements could be implemented by winter.
