Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding is releasing to Steam on May 12. This city-building and tower defense hybrid is the next chapter in the Legacy of Sin series. It's priced at $12.99 but when it goes live there's going to be a 25% launch discount for a limited period.
The game is set in a Renaissance world that's been devastated by a magical apocalypse. The few remaining survivors are now in retreat before the relentless onslaught of orcish hordes. The last kingdom now rallies around Aldrick. The mercenary leader had been promoted to lord after all the nobles he used to serve had died. It's up to him to rally the survivors, defend against the hordes, and turn a sea of ruins into the heart of a new empire.
In a statement, the development team at Absolute Power Game Studio shared that they're excited to bring the game to players. They added that they've worked hard in making the game evolve the Legacy of Sin series while at the same time stay true to the "deep strategy and storytelling" that fans have grown to love.
Hybrid Gameplay
One of the interesting features of Legacy of Sin: Ill-Boding is the seamless fusion of city-building, real-time tactics, and route defense. This allows for strategic depth combined with fast-paced action. Players get to lead an army of soldiers as they fight for survival and earn experience through victories in order to unlock powerful upgrades and specialized battlefield abilities. As both ruler and commander, they'll need to find a balance to defense, expansion, and even resource management.
Fortress Management
The survivors start with a little more than a collection of burned-out houses around a crumbling castle. Players have to rebuild the infrastructure while also restarting agriculture and industry. This is to make sure that everyone is fed and equipped. The goal is to turn a group of rag-tag survivors and shell-shocked mercenaries into one well-organized army that can stop the orcish onslaught.
