The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on PC and consoles PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. The game has players explore Cyrodiil like never before especially with the refined gameplay and truly stunning new visuals.
In a post, Bethesda Game Studios revealed that when they started this project back in 2021, the plan was to bring new life into a chapter of The Elder Scrolls. However, they didn't want to remake it but instead simply remaster it. That means it's still the original game but makes use of the technology available today.
The studio went on to say that everything has been remastered. From the art, animation, and even special effects. While original voices were retained, new ones were also recorded. Game systems meanwhile were updated. Another improvement was on the leveling systems to allow for smoother progression and balance.
New Visuals
The main reason why The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is able to feature those stunning new visuals is because of the use of the Unreal Engine 5. What this means is that players get to experience not only stunning landscapes but also more detailed character models along with improved lip synching. This also resulted in the atmospheric effects making the world of Cyrodiil feel more alive than ever.
Refined Gameplay
For those who were able to play the original version, they should be able to recognize everything they see. The thing is, the studio also knows that gamers nowadays have expectations especially "when it comes to an open world role-playing game."
For example, Sprinting was added so that the game meets modern RPG standards. All character locomotion and models have been completely redone from scratch. Meanwhile, combat animations have been fully recreated and add more flourish and separation between the upper and lower body. That's not all since combat also now includes sound effects, visual effects, and hit reactions. This should make it more engaging.
Changes also made to the third-person. It now includes a crosshair and has been modernized.
On Steam, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available for $49.99. The Deluxe Edition is being offered for $59.99 which adds a lot of bonus content.
