Bad news for those excited about the upcoming release of Dune: Awakening. It looks like the release date has been moved to June 10, with head start launching on June 5. The game was originally set to come out on May 20.
In a statement, the development team shared that they've been working towards the release date. Back in February for example they came out with the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode. The pre-orders were opened by March.
The team went on to say that the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta continues in full force with regular updates. It also allowed them to collect feedback from the beta testers. In fact, their Discord is very active with beta testers being able to interact directly with the developers. This is to make sure that Dune: Awakening releases a better game.
Because of all these, the development team revealed that they realized they needed more time to work on the game considering that there's now more feedback. The team said the decision to delay the launch is something that they're not taking lightly. However, the additional three weeks should give them enough time to make sure that the improvements "lead to a better gameplay experience" for everyone.
It's not really a loss technically especially with a large-scale beta weekend planned next month. This should give more fans the chance to play the game and share their feedback.
Dune: Awakening is an open world and multiplayer survival game on a massive scale. In reality, it’s more than just survival since the game offers a large-scale, persistent, and highly immersive world that has social hubs bustling with other players, server-wide politics and intrigue, and even a cinematic storyline that’s sure to leave players at the edge of their seat.
In this universe, the Fremen have vanished and Paul Atreides was never born. This is because Lady Jessica obeyed the Bene Gesserit and gave birth to a girl. Meanwhile, Duke Leto Atreides himself has survived the assault on Arrakeen and is now locked in a brutal conflict against the Harkonnen over Arrakis and its precious spice. This rather unique but still familiar take on the iconic sci-fi universe of Dune has players start as a prisoner sent to Arrakis and learn more about why the Fremen disappeared.
