After more than two years in Early Access, Dinkum is officially launching later this month. The official version is set to introduce some new content. Exciting as that may be, there are some important changes. In particular, on the issue of price.
Currently, the game is priced at $19.99 on Steam. What’s the deal with the price then?
In a post, James Bendon shared that while the game was in Early Access, he followed the recommended regional pricing guidelines set by Steam. He has managed to make sure that the price remained the same despite the pricing standards changing several times. The main reason for this was to ensure that more players could try the game without experiencing too much pressure. In addition, there have been five major content updates, all released for free. There was also no paid DLC.
With the game now being enjoyed by players in more than 170 countries, it appeared that there were inconsistencies when it came to the regional pricing. As such, when the official version comes out there's going to be some adjustments. This is to "align prices more closely with current exchange rates and global economic conditions." Bendon said that this means some regions may have more noticeable price changes compared to those in other regions.
Dinkum is officially launching on April 23. Read more about what to expect for this version here.
Dinkum invites players to a town that’s located on an island clearly inspired by the wild Australian outback. They’ll have to gather resources through foraging, hunting, fishing, and mining.
Players have to cultivate crops and it's important to select the best spot. This is because each crop has its own ideal season and way of growing. They'll also have to build fences and raise a variety of animals. Aside from growing crops, players can also hunt animals for food but need to remember that there are also predators out there they may be out longer for prey. They can attack creatures head on or try to capture them with traps.
At the start, everything is simple. Eventually it will grow to be a sprawling town that has farms, businesses, and even attractions. There may even be visitors dropping in and could decide to stay and make it their home too.
